Because if that ice hits, an immediate flame may come up. If that does happen, you do not want your head anywhere near the deep fryer.

If for any reason your deep fryer catches fire, and it might seem containable, there are only a few methods to get rid of the fire. First is to smother the fire. If you have a lid for that deep fryer, your best bet may to be cover the deep fryer up. Of course, if the fire immediately bursts into a big enough open flame, that may not even be safe.
